About Me

Hi! I'm Kate.

An administrator once referred to me as “the collaboration queen,” and I consider it one of the greatest compliments of my career—hence, the name of this blog! Currently, I’m a high school library media specialist in New England (hooray, seasons!). My professional background is 100% in public schools; I taught middle school ELA and high school English before I became an LMS. I strongly believe my decade of experience in the classroom prepared me well for one of the most important aspects of my current role: collaborating with fellow teachers. This is particularly true because one of the most important–if not THE most important–skill we can teach our students is critical thinking.

In addition to working with colleagues in my building, I also develop collaborative partnerships with students, public library professionals, and educators from other buildings/ districts. Hopefully, some of my examples will resonate with you, because my mission is to encourage more and deeper collaboration among educators, especially in the areas of reading, research, and media literacy. After all, teaching and learning are better when we’re in it together.
